About Us

From Mountain Life to Lake Life
For more than 20 years, Dana and Chef Matt Smith have shared a passion for great food, genuine hospitality, and bringing people together around the table.

Their journey began in a sushi bar while attending culinary school and led to owning successful restaurants in Crested Butte, Colorado. After two decades in the restaurant industry, they embraced a new adventure at the Lake of the Ozarks.

In November 2025, they proudly became the owners of Upstream Fish Company, bringing their family’s passion and Chef Matt’s decades of seafood expertise to a business the community already loved.

Today, Upstream is more than a fish market—it’s a place where premium, sustainably sourced seafood, trusted relationships, and small-town hospitality come together. Every product we offer is carefully selected with one goal in mind: helping you create unforgettable meals with the people you love.

I ordered the shrimp tacos, truffle fries, coleslaw, and hush puppies, and everything was absolutely delicious. The crab I took home was also fresh and flavorful. Jacolby and Sammie provided outstanding service. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable. They took the time to answer questions and clearly knew the menu and products well. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be back. Highly recommend this place for fresh seafood, delicious food, and exceptional customer service!
